HOTEL CASTILLE
Read moreA privileged location a few hundred meters from the Muza and the Upper Barraca gardens where you can go jogging in the morning before the crowd arrives, this is the first asset of this hotel. The second being to be installed in a very beautiful old house which has kept all its charm of yesteryear, and which we will appreciate from the reception by admiring the Maltese clock with the bucolic decoration which surmounts it. Central district means animation. Also, to choose between the 38 rooms with similar and undeniable comfort, you will need to know if you have a very light sleep. Those overlooking the central patio sometimes make a wind tunnel noise in the middle of summer due to the air conditioning. If you can book in advance, we recommend rooms with bow windows overlooking the square: 25 in the centre and 12 and 14 on each side. The icing on the cake and morning pleasure: have breakfast on the panoramic terrace on the hotel's roof, with beautiful views of the three cities. Welcoming attentive, precise and also in French.
URSULINO VALLETTA
Read moreThis luxurious boutique-style B&B is often fully booked! We discovered it by chance, discreetly tucked away in a quiet, pleasant alleyway in Valletta, unaware of the buzz it was already creating on the web among travelers looking for arty, contemporary addresses. From the Duplex, we also discovered the most beautiful view of the city of the Knights of the Order of St. John, overlooking the port, the sea and the old town, with a contrast as striking as it is fascinating between the B&B's clean lines and the authentic, historic character of the capital. One floor up, the roof, with a terrace where you can have breakfast in the soft light of dawn, or enjoy the aperitif graciously served by the team at sunset. Daniel at reception will give you the best tips and anecdotes about Malta. We loved the service and the high standard of the rooms, in harmony with this heavenly setting.

On the floor, graphic mosaics, on the walls, an exhibition of paintings by the contemporary Maltese artist Mallia, which makes us rediscover Valletta in flashy tones. Some have high ceilings, characterful furniture and luxurious bathrooms with pretty basins and superb free-standing baths. The rooms on the top floor are more futuristic, with raw concrete walls and contemporary furniture with sleek lines, each with a terrace overlooking the city. ALFONSO HOTEL
Read moreThe Alfonso is a small, vieillot family hotel, just steps away from the Spinola Bay and the discos of Paceville.
The rooms offer basic comfort and some are air conditioned.
It is regrettable that this establishment so well kept winter is much less the summer! The cleaning is not done every day in the rooms, the fans do not work (almost unbearable with high heat) and the reception is really unpleasant. Conclusion: go to this institution in the winter, but avoid the summer where prices are, in an exaggerated way. It is a pity that the lure of gain pushes some hotels in Paceville to not be in the little care with tourists during the high season…
