CAPTAIN’S CAFE ET RESTAURANT

World cuisine restaurant €€

It's a popular spot with tourists, but its location by the water is remarkable. It serves very Western specialties: pizzas, fish & chips and burgers. The café and restaurant are separate. The café at the entrance to the marina serves quick meals for lunch. The restaurant at the back of the marina offers a varied menu with plenty of seafood. We recommend the steamed fish, or the tuna with herbs. Moderately hospitable staff.

SURF & TURF

World cuisine restaurant €€

A very good restaurant (the best in town) with a former Jean-Michel Cousteau chef behind the stoves. When it comes to selecting dishes, we can't recommend enough that you follow your intuition, as it's so difficult to make a choice! In addition to a wide selection of dishes judiciously blending local flavors and seafood, you can also linger over the starters, especially the kokoda, a salad of raw fish marinated in lime and prepared with coconut cream. All delicious and relatively hearty.

GRACE ROAD KITCHEN

World cuisine restaurant

The Grace Road Kitchen is a Korean chain that's fairly ubiquitous in Fiji. The atmosphere of small, clean and uncluttered Seoul restaurants is very much in evidence. Typical Korean dishes include bibimbap, breaded chicken shoulders and dumplings. We recommend the " khanpug chicken ", the chef's specialty, and the corn and pumpkin soups. The staff are very helpful and attentive to their customers. A good address for those looking for a little variety! Note that the kitchen is organic and has its own farm.

SAVUSAVU WOK

Chinese restaurant

The restaurant is easily recognizable with its green dragons painted on the beige front wall. It's a small restaurant with a very wide choice of appetizing and inexpensive Chinese dishes. It may not look like much from the outside, but the food is good and hearty. It's possible to buy take-away, which can be handy if you're staying in the Savusavu area or even in Savusavu itself. This restaurant is a regular haunt for the locals too.

JEAN-MICHEL COUSTEAU RESORT

World cuisine restaurant €€€

Jean-Michel Cousteau's restaurant is the best in the area. Open to all, reservations must be made in advance to confirm a table. Menus change regularly and are partly French-inspired. The restaurant's seafront location makes for an irresistibly romantic setting! For an additional charge, you can reserve a table at the end of the pontoon, lit only by candles and the particularly bright stars.

GOPAL'S VEGETARIAN RESTAURANT

Indian restaurant

We're not going to lie to you, Labasa won't offer you an unforgettable culinary experience. It depends on your itinerary, but a lunch break here may not be essential. If you really want to, we can recommend this Indian restaurant. You can have a thali (the Indian platter with several small dishes) or one of the dishes on display. On Labasa's main street, you can also try Lunch Box or New Era.

On the small terrace overlooking the open sea at the Coconut Grove resort. The Coconut Grove team takes care to select the best products to offer you the very best of Fiji. Renowned salads and curries, but also fish, seafood and homemade pasta! A real favorite is the tropical sauce that accompanies the fish of the day. Dinner is often accompanied by live Fijian music.

TAVEUNI ISLAND RESTAURANT

World cuisine restaurant €€

The dishes are elaborate and of excellent quality. And the setting is idyllic: on an open terrace, overlooking the pool and sea in the background, lit by candles at nightfall. Romantic! The desserts are delicious, which is more than rare in Fiji! Menus cost 60 F$ for lunch and 80 F$ for dinner (starter, main course and dessert), and can be ordered first thing in the morning for dinner, just like anywhere else on the island. Access to the swimming pool possible during lunch.

TRAMONTO BY THE SEA RESTAURANT & BAR

World cuisine restaurant

A 20-minute walk from Matei (on the road leading to Somosomo), an ideal restaurant with perfectly decent food (go for the coconut crab!) for watching the sunset while sipping a beer. The pizzas are excellent and the sea view magnificent. It's one of the island's best places to party, and a popular spot for islanders too. Enough to keep your evenings busy during your vacation in Taveuni!
