Getting around by bus and coach Vanua Levu And Taveuni

Even if you have to take a ferry to reach Taveuni, taking the bus from Savusavu is a picturesque and quite charming journey through a lush (almost) intact forest. To do this, the departure takes place at 7:30 am every day from Savusavu (allow 2 hours of travel). The bus travels through villages nestled between hills and oceans, between palm forests and rivers, before arriving in Boce Bay where the same company's ferry will wait for you for a crossing to Somosomo.

This is the only bus company on the island. For timetables and itineraries, it's best to phone, as there isn't really an information desk at the bus station, and buses always arrive somewhat randomly. You can also take the yellow "friendly bus" from Savusavu central station every day, which will take you as far as Labasa. The road is superb, so just be a spectator.
