WAGON WHEEL RESTAURANT
Read moreThis restaurant all dressed in yellow and with an original decoration is located at the west exit of Needles. It is one of the classic stops on Route 66, which merges here with the Old National Trails Highway. The building dates from 1955 but the restaurant has only been open since 1978. The dishes are of good quality and typically American (fried chicken, sandwiches, burgers, salads, etc.), with some Mexican specialities too. An address not to be neglected before going further into the desert areas surrounding Needles.
LAS CASUELAS TERRAZA

Since 1958, this is the preferred place, and more so secret, of the people in the neighbourhood. They love to enjoy a Margarita in the bar or to taste one of the many Mexican dishes in the pure tradition of the Delgado family. Every evening, Mexican concert.
SPENCER'S RESTAURANT
Read moreA courtyard with three wide trees, luminous balls of various sizes falling from their branches, and jazz music in the background: this is the perfect setting for Spencer's Restaurant. Sitting down on the pretty patio is a pleasure in itself; ordering one of the excellent dishes on the menu, then seeing it arrive, superbly prepared, makes the experience even more enjoyable. Special mention must go to the breaded sea bass, the revisited crab cakes and the fine range of meats. A very fine table!
PAPPY & HARRIET'S
Read moreCooked outdoors over a wood fire, the grilled meats are enjoyed in this exquisite log house in the middle of the desert, in front of the folk and rock bands who come to perform in their cowboy boots and miniskorts, craft beer in hand. It was here, in Pioneertown, that many westerns were filmed in the 1950s; this restaurant was then just a movie set. Today, Pappy & Harriet's has a charm straight out of an American road-trip movie. Don't hesitate to consult the online music program before you come.

In 1979, Richard Gentry bought the business as a gift for his wife, Emma Jean, who had been a waitress there for several years. The place was naturally renamed Emma Jean's Holland Burger Cafe. We enjoy eating the homemade burgers in this small building still run by the family.

CHEEKY'S
Read moreCheeky's is the most popular breakfast and brunch spot in Palms Springs... So much so that it's rare to get there without being on the waiting list. If you come alone or with a friend, you may be lucky enough to get in front of the line, in case a spot opens up at the bar. The setting is not incredible, the room is quite noisy and the terrace is rather crowded, but the food is really good. On the menu: melting pancakes, mango waffles, huevos ranchos, quesadillas, salads, burgers, sandwiches, or fresh juices.
ROUTE 66 PIZZA PALACE
Read moreA good pizzeria that also offers American and Mexican cuisine. The establishment has a good reputation, even if its location on Route 66, which is a very wide boulevard here, is not very attractive. The interior, rather well arranged, makes you want to sit down and compensates by its decoration the rather ordinary exterior of the building. On the walls, pictures of Route 66, again and again... One of the last places in the city to eat before going on in the heat of the Mojave desert.
C & S Coffee Shop
Read moreJust a 10-minute drive west of the Joshua Tree Visitor Center, on the road leading to Pioneertown, this traditional diner serves hearty and tasty dishes. We particularly recommend it for breakfast: sit down with the locals and ask for the bacon and egg pancakes... Well done if you manage to finish! As well as the food, we're particularly taken with the decor: green banquettes and kitschy walls featuring pictures of kittens and flags.
