PORTO DE MANAUS

Port
4/5
1 review

You can't go to Manaus without seeing where the economic heart of the city beats. This free zone is connected to the rest of the world by the river, cargo ships and its port. Built by Englishmen in 1902, the port is vertically mobile, to accompany the great differences in water level - 10 m - according to the seasons. The record dates from 1953, when the Amazon was 29.70 m above sea level. It is a large port that can receive up to seven ships during the floods of the Rio Negro. Departures to Belém, Parintins and Santarém, among others.

COOPERTAXI

Taxi and VTC

This company has been present in Belém for a long time. We remind you of the instructions to follow when using cabs. Have them hailed by the pousada or restaurant, or pick them up at the station head. Do not hail them on the street. Like many cities in the country, Belém is not very safe at night. Cab drivers must start their meters at the beginning of the journey (day, night and possibly public holiday rates) unless you negotiate a flat rate directly with them. Fares are generally reasonable.
