SEMAINE SAINTE

This is the tradition most deeply rooted in Spanish customs. Throughout the country, processions and parades of different brotherhoods testify to the religious and cultural importance of this festival. Throughout Catalonia, about a hundred religious events take place during this period. On the Costa Brava, the Viacrucis of Sant Hilari Salcam and Girona deserve special attention. And of course the Verges death dance, which dates back to the 17th century.
