OFFICE DU PARC
Read moreThis is where you pay your park entrance fee, and also where the pirogues for your visits are organized. Here you can hire an "eco-guide", a young man from a nearby village who knows the site like the back of his hand, and the bird sightings. He'll be able to point them out and name them for you. The visit is most enjoyable between December and March, when the migrants take the site by storm. Bring a cap, a large bottle of water and sun cream. A delicious home-cooked lunch is available on site.
OFFICE DE LA RÉSERVE DE GUEMBEUL
Read moreCreated in 1983, the aim of this reserve is to reintroduce sub-Saharan species such as the Algal Oryx and Dama Mhou Gazelles to Senegal. Brought back from different countries, they are first brought to Guembeul to acclimatize to the country before being released in the Ferlo Nord Wildlife Reserve. A Ramsar site, the site is also home to many birds. At the entrance, there is a small interesting eco-museum with explanatory panels on introduced species.

A visit is recommended, and you'll get some good tips. Some brochures are free, others charge. Don't hesitate for a second to go there, where you'll find all the information you need: practical info, history, accommodation, etc.
OFFICE DU PARC
Read moreYou must be accompanied by an official guide to enter the park. If you went with a guide from Saint-Louis, he will take care of all the formalities, whether it is for the entrance fee or for the rental of the canoe. Otherwise, you will have to contact a guide on the spot. Generally, the visit is done by pirogue where you will discover the impressive nesting boxes of pelicans, especially between December and March. The other possibility is to drive through the park with a guide specialized in birds, to observe them from the watchtowers.
