L’EMBUSCADE

Bar and caf
4/5
1 review

Trendy bar of Saint-Louis, where young Saint-Louisians and tourists meet in the evening around a beer. The staff is nice, the atmosphere is friendly and festive, the music is lively. You can also play pool and concerts are regularly organized. Since 2016, the Embuscade has been home to the restaurant Le Réveil run by Mawdo Malick Diop, former chef at Sunu Keur. The menu is quite varied and the Senegalese dishes are well concocted with fresh products. We recommend the chef's specialty, the fricassee of the sea.

LE SPOUTNIK BAR

Bar and caf

Opposite the Flamingo, this long bar is most noticeable for the hustle and bustle outside. The atmosphere is festive, especially on concert evenings, when you'll find yourself in the company of the locals, enjoying a truly warm moment to the frenetic rhythms of Senegalese music. This is where you can listen to Mama Sadio and her orchestra in concert. Her magnificent voice will not leave you indifferent. The evenings go on late into the night, which is why this trendy bar is one of Saint-Louis' leading after-hours venues!

NDAR NDAR

In this renovated colonial house, here is a warm bar where you can enjoy a delicious Ethiopian coffee ground on the spot, while listening to good music. It is run by Oumar, former manager of a music store, who found the nice idea to combine his two pleasures. In addition to the coffee, the local juices and fresh camel milk are organic. There is a nice selection of CDs from Senegalese and international artists for sale. Upstairs, seven guest rooms with authentic charm welcome visitors for a stay in the heart of Saint-Louis.

Following on from La Kora restaurant, here's a brand-new, cosy little wooden café, beautifully decorated, which also doubles as a grocery store. The main attraction is a delicious world coffee (from Brazil, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe...) to get the day off to a good start, with African music playing in the background. To accompany it, a selection of homemade cookies and local juices are available. There's also a wide choice of hot drinks: teas, infusions, cappuccino, hot chocolate... The atmosphere is warm and the staff friendly and welcoming.

LA LOUISE

Bar and caf

The Meyazz Club was taken over by a Dakaroise, Louise, who also runs a restaurant-caterer in the capital. The venue has not changed and concerts are still organised at weekends on the open-air stage. The atmosphere is provided by Senegalese artists from Saint-Louis and sometimes from Dakar. The establishment, which also does catering, offers local and European dishes such as tagliatelle with seafood, marinated beef brochettes or braised sea bream. Behind the dining room is a small, more intimate inner courtyard.
