The Ponting what is it? No, it's not bungee jumping! It's a sort of giant swing where you throw yourself off a bridge into the void. Discipline also known as "pendulum jumping". And this summer it's at the Pont de Tréboul, in the Cantal region.

Curious about everything, I decided to test this amazing extreme sport!
First I put on the harness... not very sexy, but essential. Then the pros prepare you before going over the railing to approach the void. Helmet, carabiners, ropes... not one but two and knots to be safe. At Truyère Evasion: we don't laugh with the life of the client. The more knots, the more protected we are.
First test: use the ladder to access the side of the void on a small platform. Atmosphere! The boss is at your side to make you comfortable. After that, the hardest part is still to be done: jump! Some are faster than others. I might as well tell you that I didn't really ask myself any questions. The secret: don't overthink it. Trust the provider, don't look down and go for it. The feeling of falling is pretty damn impressive. Backwards and not bad either. It's a good scare! The most incredible thing is the spectacular speed right from the start. To try the experience is to fall 35 metres into the void. Cries of joy, encouragement or fear, to each his own style. The best thing is still to try. You're being picked up on the ground, your legs feel light. Soon you'll come to your senses. When do we jump?

Duration of the attraction 10 minutes. Price 25 €.
Location: Summer 2014 Tréboul Bridge, (Sainte-Marie). Find out if there's another place.
