Since the pandemic, the delivery service has been developed and you can of course order from your hotel, but we recommend that you come here to make the most of this restaurant.

The place to be for a nice night out in Macas. La Maravilla has had a new location since 2021, modern and comfortable, although it still lacks the charm of the old house. You can sit down and enjoy a cheese board or a meat dish with yucca. You can also sip a beer, a cocktail with rum... or the house preparation, the Guayusa, made with plants and which would have aphrodisiac virtues! The music is good and there are often bands playing live. Karaoke some evenings.

Near the hotel El Jardin, a little away from the city centre, here is an establishment where you will certainly taste real Neapolitan pizzas, even the best of the region, in a pleasant modern and very well maintained setting (room on the floor). The menu is varied and we appreciate the original recipe of some (with spinach, ricotta among others). Pasta is also on the menu. Note the lasagne with delicious bolognese and a tiramisu to die for. A very good choice in Puyo that we recommend without hesitation!

Located in the heart of the tropical garden of the eponymous hotel, this charming restaurant is renowned for serving quality Ecuadorian cuisine, tinged with Amazonian specialties. A warm setting and a great terrace for a variety of shrimps, trout and meats, pastas and salads, accompanied by Chilean wine. Do not miss the trout with ginger. The meat is also excellent and cooked as requested, which is quite rare. It is a very nice place to relax after lunch while enjoying the rainforest that surrounds you.

The best table in Tena is sheltered under a picturesque straw hut. Grilled meats are the speciality of the house: you can enjoy steak, filet mignon or trout, all deliciously accompanied. Locals can even bring in their own cuts of turkey, chicken, pig, etc., to be roasted on the premises. Good selection of alcoholic beverages as well, especially Chilean and Argentinean wines that go perfectly with the grilled food. Since the pandemic, you can even have it delivered!

This café, the first in Tena, opened in 2005, run by Swiss people, has a very pleasant location on the river. It is ideal for breakfast and a good coffee, juice or snack during the day. It is a place open most of the time where locals like to meet with friends, if only to prepare for their day of water activities or discovering the region. To test: the chicken empanadas and especially the flagship drink of the café, the Charapata, delicious lemonade of Guayusa seasoned with Amazonian condiments.

Attablé in the garden, you will taste a delicious, classic wood-fired pizza, or pasta, in an intimate atmosphere.

This is where you can enjoy the best asado (grill) in town. On the menu, good meats, grilled with care, including a very good lomo (beef tenderloin) that browns on the hot stone. French fries and yuca on the side. It is a very popular place with the locals, the atmosphere is friendly and the meat delicious. Each table has a very practical plate warmer to keep the grilled meat at the right temperature. It takes about ten minutes to walk to the restaurant from the centre, but the meal is worth the effort.

We meet at the house of the "maito" to taste this typical specialty of the Ecuadorian Amazon, the " Maito de pescado de agua dulce ": fresh fresh water fish (today, it is generally tilapia) rolled up in a banana leaf that is cooked on the grill. The whole thing is accompanied by yucca and plantains. The place is very simple, with rustic wooden furniture and a terrace surrounded by fences, as is often the case in the remote towns and villages of the country. Delicious, typical and very economical!
