It is one of the city's curiosities. The people of Fribourg are very attached to their unique funicular. Classified as a historical monument, it dates from 1899. It runs on the energy of the city's waste water, via a system of counterweights. The journey is short (2 minutes) but so efficient to reach the lower town (Neuveville and Auge) in the centre. It is used regularly by the inhabitants and is an integral part of the cliff. It is like a decor, a living sculpture that animates sometimes one district, sometimes the other.

The famous yellow and red Mouettes Genevoises are integrated in the Unireso public transport network. These small boats allow you to go from one bank to the other in a few minutes, with your transport pass or a simple ticket. They link Pâquis to Molard (M1), Eaux-Vives (M2) and Geneva beach (M3). And the M4 line links the latter to Chateaubriand (Mon Repos park near the Perle du Lac). An excellent idea for a short stroll on the lake!

Enter the wonderful world of the Kaeserberg Railway, a technical feat for a journey in miniature. The reconstruction is striking and invites you to travel through the Swiss landscape. Built on three levels, this network has 2,045 m of track, 87 trains ready to run, 120 locomotives pulling 1,250 wagons. 17 years of reflection and work of a watchmaker's meticulousness have made this childhood dream, that of Marc Antiglio, a reality. Your immersion in the Alps by train begins at the foot of the Matterhorn. The Glacier Express holds the world record for the slowest speed, 36 km/h. In 8 hours it covers 270 km between Zermatt and St. Moritz. But this mountainous route is what makes the journey so wonderful. Spectacular, you cross the Albula line (six vertiginous viaducts and three tunnels), by the way listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site, the Landwasser viaduct... Coming from the "open sea" by boat to the quays of Lausanne, what a wonderful prospect! The Léman Express connects the airport and Cornavin station, as well as various parts of Geneva and the surrounding region. From Cornavin, the network serves the rest of Switzerland.

Transports Lausannois provides a transport service on weekend nights, i.e. Friday and Saturday evenings, and on the eve of public holidays. Night buses also run between 0.40am and 5am. In 6 minutes, you go from the GoldenPass MOB Les Avants stop to the pretty lookout of Sonloup, covering the 500 m that separate these two small villages. Trains are more frequent in winter, when the toboggan run is open! In spring, and especially in May, the fields are covered with daffodils and form a magnificent landscape. In Sonloup, the funicular's machinery, put into service in 1910 and recently renovated, is made visible to the public.

Take at least one cruise, the scenery you can admire on board is unique! Regular maritime links between Lausanne, Evian, Thonon-les-Bains... The CGN offers a wide range of themed and gastronomic cruises, combining a cruise with a hike, a tour of the Riviera, Lavaux, lunch on the lake admiring the vineyards and then the Château de Chillon... A 40-minute journey... at a price that might put some people off! And yet, at the end of a beautiful itinerary, the Train des Étoiles drops you off at Les Pléiades, 1,360 m above sea level. From here, you can overlook the whole of Lake Geneva. Les Pléiades is an ideal starting point for hikes. Among the many hiking trails. On a 300 m difference in altitude for a short trip of 600 m, this funicular, opened in 1883, connects the village of Territet (5 minutes from Montreux) to Glion (690 m altitude) in 3 minutes. At the time of its construction, it was the steepest ramp in the world. The view of the lake from Glion is indeed breathtaking! Today, it is the oldest funicular in Switzerland, and you really feel as if you've travelled back in time!
