The Monday after Ash Wednesday is the start of one of Basel's most important events, the carnival or Fashnacht. The whole of Basel meets in the middle of the night on the Market Square. At 4am, all the lights go out and more than 200 decorated lanterns start their parade, announcing the beginning of the carnival. It will last 3 days during which the city changes its rhythm, and dresses in its colorful clothes. Don't forget to taste the traditional flour soup.

Jazznojazz is Switzerland's leading jazz event, with around twenty concerts a year. November 2024 will see the ^24th edition of this long-awaited festival at the Gessnerallee and the ZKB club. On the program: jazz and pop names, established artists and promising youngsters. Some of the biggest names in music have already come to Zurich: John McLaughlin, Ashley Henry... For a bite to eat, you'll find the Reithall Gessnerallee restaurant, offering creative cuisine in a warm atmosphere.

The Floss Festival is a stage on the Rhine with an eclectic programme of excellent music. For more than twenty years, Basel has been alive with concerts for three weeks at the end of July. The floating stage is in motion, while the audience sits on the riverbank. On stage, the bands play to hundreds of spectators who stroll and stop along the banks of the Rhine. The Floss Festival is free of charge: all you have to do to contribute is throw a few coins into the sailors' nets at the collection.

Since 1995, the name Gambrinus has been associated with jazz music and live concerts in the community of St. Gallen. A few years later, in 2004, the Gambrinus Jazz Plus Association was founded and supports jazz by organizing public events in a wide variety of styles with talented young musicians from the region. The Kugl is much more than a concert and party venue - it's a place to live! This national-scale municipal theater was inaugurated in 1968. Hosting dramatic, dance and music performances, the venue attracts large audiences and offers a highly eclectic program. Each season, the St. Gallen theater presents over twenty new productions, and welcomes over 150,000 spectators from all over the Lake Constance region for around 470 performances (including some 50 off-site). A must-see!

Located in Holzpark Klybeck, a former industrial zone with a Berlin feel, this flagship is a venue dedicated to cultural activities, mainly music and theater. Its red hull attracts crowds in summer to lounge on the terrace deck along the Rhine, soaking up the sun and sipping tasty cocktails.
