Ogna Scene is a unique venue an hour by train or 40 minutes by car from Stavanger. It is a concert café where music, poetry, dance and fantasy are presented in various forms and formats. A retro, timeless and unique place. Slow down and live like a local. We like the intimate atmosphere with a few colored lights, small lanterns guinguette style, frames full of walls, old objects here and there arranged nonchalantly for the pleasure of the eyes. But what we appreciate the most of course, are the top concerts!

Despite its splendid view of the fjord, the place remains cheap, in addition to a friendly atmosphere. It is very popular with the locals who come to enjoy hot and cold dishes that are not too expensive, such as the vegetarian burger or the home-made fish soup. Children's menu burger + fries. Good choice of beers and fresh pastries. Concerts from time to time, free internet connection perfect for working for a few hours. Friendly staff and a large terrace by the water, what more could you want to do to have a nice time?

Our favourite address in Stavanger is in the heart of this pretty coloured street, Ovre Holmegate. From the outside, it looks like a bookstore, but the pretty terrace in front of it invites you to come in and enjoy a good organic and fair trade coffee, or a cold beer (large selection!). The place also invites you to chat. Often full to bursting, we meet some nice people. Some evenings, you can attend a live concert. Cosy atmosphere and varied clientele, you can go there with your eyes wide open!

Next to the previous one, a younger rock café, arranged around a large circular bar in the centre. There are often concerts here and on nights when there are no musicians, the DJ plays Nirvana, Rage against the machine, etc. Sometimes there are up to three concerts a week, so if you check the line-up before you arrive in Stavanger, you should be able to find something to your liking. Buy tickets online if possible. Just remember that alcohol is super expensive in Norway, it's not a myth.

The official brewer of Stavanger has finally got its own place! You will be able to taste 21 types of beers with a complete selection of Lervig and other craft, Norwegian and international breweries. They also organize many parties, quizzes and other entertainment. For beer lovers, this is the place to be in Stavanger. You should know that they make incredible non-alcoholic beers! For the skeptics, test them and you will not feel any difference. Quite useful in a country that has zero tolerance for drinking and driving.

It is an independent coffee chain. Kaffe Misjonen opened its doors in 2007, with the aim of offering quality coffee from controlled production and processed by local roasters. A great mission! On-site catering with good fresh and local products, a real treat. The homemade desserts are a delight. The company also offers a course open to all to become a real barista, so do not hesitate to consult their schedule on the web, it can be a rewarding and fun activity during your trip!

Very good place to try the local beers. The bartenders will help you choose according to your desires. And fortunately, because with more than 100 choices of beer, including 54 drafts, you could get lost! They also make their own beer. The management has chosen not to play any music, or very little, which creates a very special atmosphere, made of the sounds of discussions, laughter, and above all, of concentration when tasting beer!

Located on the second floor of a building, formerly the house of Ole Bull's father, Johan Storm, the Storm bar, formerly Bola, is a fashionable and design place, with a beautiful terrace and an original decoration. Bar, concert and a little extra for afternoon tea on Sundays. Free Internet connection, comfortable armchairs and sofas in addition to tables, little nooks and tables near the window, there is something for everyone. Try their famous chocolate mousse, mushroom soup or Thai mussels!

Located in a beautiful house designed by the architect Schack and right next to the YMCA youth hostel, this is a small, warm and very cosy café, decorated with checkered tables and candles. Ideal for a reading or study break (free Internet connection), you'll gladly stay a while. Moreover, they serve delicious coffees, teas and small home-made dishes, vegetarian, burgers and others! All organic products are identified and advertised. To be discovered!

A nice café, old decoration, in the style of some Parisian cafés. If it is quiet during the day, it can be very lively in the evening as it hosts a number of artists. Very reasonable prices for drinks and good value for money. The menu is diverse, from salads to burgers, from omelettes to chilli con carne. Their baked Hardangervidda trout is a delight! The homemade desserts are worth it too! Remember to make reservations for the restaurant. A nice place to hang out at any time of the day.

A nice bar with a rather nice decoration, mixing old and modern and a patio for those who prefer to sip a beer in the fresh air. Good atmosphere, concert evenings are organized very regularly, see online program. Mainly parties with DJs to set the dancefloor on fire. It's so good to let off steam after all this period of confinement and deprivation of human warmth! A place that will not please everyone but that is worth spending a moment there, even if it's only a small one!

This bar brews its own beer on the spot... and it is very good! The spirit of a big English pub with a lot of tables. The menu is rather interesting and will delight meat lovers: ribs, burgers, etc. A good address! Children's menu for only 79 NOK. The sweet potato fries are not bad at all. Fish and chips too. Dessert with apples and chocolate. A nice place to spend some time with friends eating fatty things and good beer if you're tired of fish soup!

A pretty artist's café in a wooden house, located along the promenade that runs along the seafront. The place also hosts exhibitions and concerts. A good option for those who want to get away from the city centre for a while. Homemade waffles and lattes. You can also buy furniture and small second-hand things for the house. Coffee sales. Every month interesting and diverse exhibitions with local artists. A nice and cheap outing. Note however that this café is linked to the local church.

"Au Folk" is the answer to the daily question of the backpacker: "Where can I find a nice, local bar to drink a beer? The inhabitants of Bergen like to meet there all week long to share an aperitif on the terrace or simply to sit at the counter. Several generations mix in this bar and it's a pleasure. Folk og RØVERE also offers food for the hungry: soup of the day, small vegetarian dishes, curry rice with vegetables... healthy and cheap food. Wifi.

This little pub may not look like much from the outside, but it's actually a very friendly place. Locals have been coming here for 40 years, despite successive changes of ownership. On the walls are paintings by Joan Baez, Miles Davis, Bob Dylan & Co. All the same to your ears, and that's a pleasure! Their pint of lager is the cheapest in town and their local IPA is particularly good, with a smoky taste. In the basement, you'll find karaoke, billiards and a disco on certain nights of the week. Don't hesitate to go there for a bit of local flavor.

Pikant Mat is one of Førde's most popular bars. It offers a promising wine list, draught beers for summer refreshment, and the excellent cocktails for which the bar is renowned. In a relaxed atmosphere, customers can enjoy plates of charcuterie and cheese on the upstairs terrace overlooking the river. For the hungry, there's a restaurant on the first floor where you can extend the evening. The menu, though limited, offers simple but fine dishes prepared with fresh produce.

Trendy bar, club and brunch where locals gather every day of the week. Events of all kinds, mainly techno music. Pink neon chalet chic and a lovely terrace and patio to enjoy the summer. The boudoir on the top floor tops it all off. Located in the former premises of Café Sting, a mecca for the city's musical culture, Le Loft aims to take up the torch. There's a selection of cocktails to suit every occasion, and for those who prefer the quiet, don't forget to book Sunday brunch!

We don't often think about going to the movies in a foreign country, but it's a nice activity that allows you to change from visiting museums and to see the local population up close without looking like a tourist. A tip: buy your tickets online and do like all Norwegians: reserve your seats! This cinema is located in the heart of Bergen and offers a variety of films for all audiences. The plus: everything is in V.O., we love it!

As the name suggests (in Norwegian), it's a huge cave dug into the hillside underneath the Bergen University. It's also the favorite place of the students who come to nibble pizzas and drink beer. Away from the lights of the city, this club is too far to walk to and very difficult to find by car. English hard rock bands often come from across the river from Newcastle (it's only across the North Sea) to play here. This is one of the oldest rock clubs in Northern Europe.

There is a warm and friendly atmosphere in this pub with red brick walls. Here, oil engineers mingle with other night owls from the city, over pizza, bottled and draught beers, cocktails and other tasty drinks. Lots of different sandwiches to go with the Norwegian tradition of matpakke, schoolboy sandwiches at lunchtime or on a hike. A place to party. In the summer, a terrace where it is good to stay a few hours, often with live music.
