The surface area of Lake Togo is around 46 km2, with a maximum length of around 15 km and a maximum width of around 6 km. It stretches south to within a kilometer of the sea, where it meets the dune barrier, then turns east and stretches for 13 km into a narrow lagoon. Lake Togo is surrounded by several villages, including Togoville, Badougbe, Sewati, Goun Kope, Kwenou, Ekpoui, Adjido, Seva-Tonou, Dekpo, Abobo, Amedehoeve, Agomekpota and Kpessi.
