Located at the foot of the fortress, just before the climb, this restaurant is a favorite stop for tourist drivers. And with good reason! They enjoy a free lunch, while their customers enjoy a meal at a very low price. In short, it's a win-win situation. The waiter will urge you to have a thali (very cheap), but you should know that there's a very complete menu, if you're already saturated with dal-vegetables-rice. The dining room is of no interest, and neither is the terrace overlooking the street. The location is convenient and the food tasty, so look no further.

In the narrow streets leading to the ghats, this café-restaurant is ideally located. On the first floor, the café serves real espressos and pastries for a sweet break or breakfast. Upstairs, the covered terrace restaurant offers a breathtaking view of the lake. In high season, places are at a premium, as there are only a few tables available. The restaurant's menu is as long as your arm, and includes the essentials of Indian cuisine, as well as "on-the-go" dishes such as fries, burgers, sandwiches and tasty kathi rolls.

On the street leading from the Jagdish temple to the City Palace, the Gateway is the address that really comes into its own. You have to go up one floor, above the stores, to sit on the large terrace where you can watch the bustle of the street. Although the food is not the best you'll find in Udaipur, we do appreciate the existence of this restaurant, which means you don't have to walk any further after a long visit to the City Palace. And it's one of the few restaurants open out of season in the area. We regret the lackadaisical service.
