Jazz clubs Route de la soie

Last bastion of the once flourishing Marseille jazz scene, the Pelle Mêle is located a stone's throw from the Old Port and gathers from Tuesday to Saturday a public of jazz and live music lovers. The program is rich and varied every week with an open mic night every Friday (reservation strongly advised). It is a beautiful place of night life where you can discover local and international artists that you will only ask to follow afterwards. In the evening, accompany your drinks with quesadillas or cuttlefish in parsley.

As there is not only one, the Cri du Port declares itself to be "the place of all jazz(es)". Since 1981, the association federates and programs in its own concert hall and outside the walls major artists of the French scene, talents to be discovered, from solos to quintets, from bebop to free jazz, rather for the purists. Located in the Saint-Lazare district, it is in a former protestant temple that most of the concerts are held. Member of AJC (action jazzé croisé), of Jazz sur la ville, and of many other federations, the association also proposes punctual dates outside the walls, and a program for the young public. Far from being a simple jazz club, the Cri du Port is a contemporary music venue dedicated to jazz and improvised music as well as a concert hall.

This jazz bar/club looks like it's straight out of a 1950s American movie. Founded in 2012, The Hat quickly became a must for music lovers in the city. Word of mouth worked so well that a The Hat opened in Berlin and then in Moscow. Here you can easily meet world-famous musicians who come to the Hat after their concert (the Tiger Lilies when we were there) to have a drink and play 2-3 compositions. The program is unpredictable but always very festive. A place that smells of love for music.

On the ground floor there is a small stage facing the bar and the few tables, the room has 120 seats. The exposed brick walls reinforce the jazz atmosphere. Almost every day musicians perform there (program posted on their website), the style of jazz played is very diverse (classical, modern, mainstream...). Beer, cocktail, wine... Catering with a simple Italian menu. Quality programming and a young atmosphere. Come early if you want seating near the stage
