OBSERVATOIRE DES SCIENCES DE L'UNIVERS DE GRENOBLE

Astronomy

2 reviews

The OSUG was created in 1985 on the university domain of Grenoble with the aim of uniting scientific research units in various fields such as astrophysics, planetology, geophysics, climatology, and ecology. This observatory is open to the public through various interesting places to visit such as the museum space (rocks, minerals, fossils), the Alpine botanical garden, or the discovery trail of the Solar System. Sky observation evenings from a 400 mm diameter telescope under dome (the January to March only, starting at 7 p. m.) are also proposed. Finally, it is possible to see the surprising Planeterrella, a unique system that allows to create polar aurora at will! Most of these activities are free but require registration from the observatory website.

In addition to its telescope for observing the planets and stars, the site has a planetarium under a dome that offers daily broadcasting of an immersive documentary film followed by the intervention of a scientific mediator (session of 1 hour to 1h30 - different films depending on the day of the week). Night observations with a guide are also offered to learn how to spot the different constellations.

GROUPE D'ASTRONOMIE DU GRÉSIVAUDAN

Astronomy

Located in Saint-Ismier, close to the north-east of Grenoble, this club meets every Friday evening and welcomes the passage observers according to weather conditions. The club's observations are not necessarily made in Saint-Ismier even but more readily on the heights, along the Chartreuse Regional Natural Park, to benefit from a much less polluted sky by city lights. Public comments are also offered during national astronomical events such as Stars Nights. Early July each year, don't miss the "Cinstars" evening in the park park… In addition to the attractions offered for children, a film is planned in open air followed by a sky observation evening. Very friendly atmosphere, especially for families.
