When to go en Camargue ?

The climate of the Camargue is humid Mediterranean. Temperatures are mild in winter and hot in summer. Near the coast, the maritime influences regulate the temperature variations, so that in summer the heat is often tempered by the sea breeze. The sunshine is excellent and the rainfall is low. On the other hand, the mistral wind (due to the proximity of the Rhone) blows regularly.

Benefiting from a mild climate (although a little hot in summer), the Camargue is a region that can be visited all year round. The high tourist season takes place between July and August, the accommodations are crowded and the prices increase then. But the Camargue also fills up during the region's major festive events: the férias of Arles (in September) and Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer (mid-July), and especially on the occasion of the gypsy pilgrimage (on May 24 and 25). The city is full, but the phenomenon is unique in France!
