The city's main station and Alexandria's terminus. "Mahattat Misr" is an Egyptian National Railways station, served by trains on the Alexandria - Cairo route. Sidi Gaber Station is one of the two main railway stations in Alexandria. It was built in the late 1850s. It is the oldest railway station in Egypt.
