LAC DE VIRLAY

The 40 ha Lake of Virlay offers a pleasant setting for relaxation, recreation and sport in a green environment at the gates of Saint-Amand-Montrond. Sports events on water (sailing, pedal boats, canoeing), flying, hiking and mountain biking around the lake, navigation on an electric boat with comments on fauna and flora, free activities (badminton, volleyball, bowls)… Rentals are ensured and monitored in the summer by the sports instructors of the Sports Department of the City. Virlay is classified as Natura 2000. The Bird Protection League deposited floating boxes on the lake, tables, benches and garbage bins were made from recycled plastic and access to the road is reserved for pedestrians and two-wheelers to secure the site.
