This flamboyant gothic style basilica has a rood screen made of Kersanton stone, one of the most beautiful in France

A masterpiece of flamboyant Gothic style, the Folgoët basilica was built between the 14thand 15th centuries. It celebrated its six hundredth anniversary in 2023. After many ups and downs, it was bought back in 1810 by parishioners, who returned it to worship. Its Kersanton stone rood screen is one of the finest in France. Its porch, featuring the apostles, reveals the virtuosity of local sculptors. Inside, you can admire stained-glass windows created by great master glassmakers.

Village charmant, très belle Basilique pleine d histoire. Très accueillant avec les C.caristes, tous services gratuits et à ce propos ne faites pas comme bcp qui profitent de la gratuité et ne laissent même pas le prix d une baguette chez le boulanger, hélas il y a de plus en plus de profiteurs et de radins parmi notre communauté.

J'ai eu l'occasion de visiter cette basilique avec une guide très intéressante (chaque été, les visites sont gratuites). J'y ai découvert des choses que j'ignorais. En revanche, les écrans plats partout dans la basilique, je trouve que ça gâche tout. Je conçois que les fidèles veuillent suivre l'office, mais là c'est trop.
