ST. PETER'S CHURCH
Church built at the end of the 11th century and located in Fouesnant, with five bays and remarkable Romanesque capitals
Listed as a Historic Monument since 1930, Saint-Pierre Church symbolises the Romanesque art of Finistère and is one of the best preserved examples of this art. Built at the end of the 11th century, it was redesigned in the 18th century, after the fall of the lantern tower, and completely restored at the end of the 19th century by Joseph Bigot. Its plan is classically in the form of a Latin cross, its granite interior pillars are decorated with capitals decorated with eight-pointed stars, volutes and other motifs. As for its panelled nave, it has five bays and its Romanesque capitals are remarkable. Many colourful statues of saints mark the church. A new organ was inaugurated in 2000.
