Opposite Kaiseizan Park stands the Kaiseizan Daijingu Shinto Shrine, founded in 1876. In spring, it's a popular venue for the cherry blossom festival, which attracts many visitors. The shrine pays homage to three major Shinto deities: Amaterasu, goddess of the sun and legendary ancestor of the imperial family; Emperor Jimmu, Japan's first mythical ruler; and Toyouke-Omikami, deity of agriculture and crafts.
