An hour's train ride from Ichinoseki, the former Sato family residence has been designated a National Cultural Heritage Site, and is now home to a discovery area showcasing the region's history, culture and tourism. It features elegant architecture from the late Meiji to the Taisho era, with an imposing main building in zelkova wood, a modern-style western pavilion, former sake warehouses and a peaceful garden. A true testimony to the past.
