Opened in 1995, the Yokote Manga Museum is the first of its kind in Japan. Completely renovated, it reopened its doors in 2019, on the very day of the beginning of the Reiwa era. Its jewel: the Manga-no-Kura, an exhibition space that preserves some 400,000 original plates. Nearly 180 artists are featured in rotation in the permanent hall. The museum also features superb temporary exhibitions, a 25,000-title library and a themed café.
