Housed within the Akita Furusato Mura, a vast cultural space in Tohoku, the Akita Museum of Modern Art is distinguished by its contemporary architecture and rich collection. Since 1994, it has showcased "Akita Ranga", Western-style painting born in the XVIIIᵉ century, alongside works by local artists and international masters such as Rodin. There's also a sculpture garden, a high-definition gallery, temporary exhibitions and workshops.
