LACS IZUNUMA-UCHINUMA
In the Kurihara plain, Lakes Izunuma and Uchinuma form a vast 491-hectare natural sanctuary, classified as a Ramsar site (wetland of international importance) since 1985. Shallow and surrounded by rice paddies, in winter they are home to thousands of Siberian swans and geese, a breathtaking sight at sunrise. In summer, the scenery is transformed: lotuses in bloom cover the surface of the water. During the Lotus Festival, you can embark on a walk through the flowers. A perfect illustration of nature's metamorphosis.
