CASCADE TAMASUDARE
Named by the legendary monk Kobō Daishi after a divine dream, the Tamasudare waterfall has since been revered as a spiritual site conducive to meditation. The largest waterfall in Yamagata, it cascades from a height of 63 m and a width of 5 m, offering a purifying and soothing spectacle. Accessible in 10 minutes on foot through a serene wood strewn with astonishingly shaped stones, the waterfall is bordered by thousand-year-old cedars and a shrine. It is illuminated in spring (April 28-May 5) and summer (August 11-18). Please bring walking shoes.
