LES PLAGES DE LA CÔTE OUEST

The beaches on the west coast are among the most beautiful on the island. Some of them are easily accessible by car and organized (around Panormos), while those located in the direct vicinity of Neo Klima are wilder, and sometimes accessible only by kayak or boat. To discover the latter, you can rent a boat without a license for the day from Wind Boat, on the small pier of Neo Klima (windboatrent.com - tel. +30 697 7296448).

Around Panormos. The most touristic area of the west coast naturally concentrates the most frequented beaches, as they are accessible by car. Beyond the crowded beach of Panormos itself, the beaches of Milia (2 km away) and Kastani (3 km away) are organized. Unless you want to spend the day with boom-boom music, avoid Kastani, its irrelevant beach bar and its crowd. It is a very beautiful beach, but a bit damaged now. The sandy beach of Milia is also organized, but if you continue to the end of the bay you will find more tranquility. The horizon is barred by the islet Dasia, offering a very nice panorama.

Around Neo Klima. The beaches are not organized, and are not accessible by car except for the beach of Armenopetra, closed by a rocky formation with changing ochres (drive slowly on the secondary road that leads to it). The beach of Chovolo, at the foot of high cliffs, is beautiful, as is the lonely beach of Kalives.
