Located only 12 kilometers from the tiny village of Shine-Ider, this lake has only recently become a tourist attraction in Mongolia. It allows especially to make an interesting break for travelers who seek to connect Mörön to the White Lake (Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur) further south, distant from each other by 400 km. Indeed, it takes at least 11 hours to drive between these two major sites. From Mörön, there is a little more than 100 km to cover towards the southwest. To reach the lake, it will be necessary to borrow a mountainous track. The chaotic journey is largely compensated by the arrival on the place, breathtaking. Walkers can stroll along the water's edge, which also makes an excellent stopping point for camping. There is only one tourist camp in Zuun Nuur. Its location on the heights of the lake makes it possible to take full advantage of this magnificent site. Covering an area of 75 km2, with a maximum width of 3.8 km and a maximum length of 7 km, this saltwater lake is 2,006 meters above sea level. Its shallow depth of 17 meters has not allowed for the appearance of such a wide variety of fish, but birds of different species can be seen here. In summer, many nomadic families settle here and, as soon as the temperature drops again, they leave. In winter, the ice can be up to 1.5 meters thick.
