MEDIEVAL NECROPOLIS OF KALUFI

This 1.8-hectare site (Nekropola Kalufi/Некропола Калуфи) is one of the country's twenty-two medieval necropolises designated a Unesco World Heritage Site in 2016. It houses a record 462 stećci (14th-16th centuries), but only 42 are decorated. The motifs are classical (rosettes, crosses, crescent moons, vegetal friezes, etc.) and rarely figurative: a hunting scene, a joust, a horse, a kolo (circle dance), a man alone and another with a spear.
