Rijal Alma is an old village with stone houses and palaces, sheltered in a narrow valley at the foot of Jebel Soudah. Located at 45 km from Abha, it forces to take one of the most beautiful roads of the country. From the plateau and mount Soudah, the winding road plunges into the valley following the ridge line. On the way, several clearings have been made to be able to take some pictures and enjoy the show. Numerous stone watchtowers punctuate the route and bear witness to a turbulent past. The village was an obligatory point of passage for pilgrims coming from Yemen and the countries of South Asia. It was an advanced bastion in the protection of the roads to Mecca and Medina. One has to imagine the pilgrims on foot, walking through this cut-throat valley and getting ready to climb the highest mountain in the country. The village was also an important commercial crossroads, especially since local agricultural products enjoy an excellent reputation in the markets, especially honey and butter.
