Fayfa is a paradise for lovers of great landscapes. This village in the south of the Asir mountains goes against the clichés that stick to the skin of Saudi Arabia. Here, no desert, no sand, no scorching heat, but high steep mountains that get lost in the mist, a dense vegetation, cool temperatures, especially in winter. The steep slopes have been worked into small espaliered plots that allow for the growth of fruits and vegetables. The mild, humid climate is ideal for agriculture and farmers grow corn and coffee, among other crops. The local populations belong to 20 different tribes, known for the colorful costumes worn by the men. They are often called the flower men because of the carnation crowns they wear on their heads. The cultural and folkloric richness of this corner of Asir is still evident in the small local markets in the area.
