It's a huge national park divided into western and eastern parts, accessed via the charming coastal villages of Bremer Bay and Hopetoun respectively. The area has been protected because it is home to numerous species of plants and animals, and the central part of the park is inaccessible to protect its biodiversity. The most emblematic of these is probably the photogenic Hakea Royal, a plant that can be seen throughout the park. The Barren Mountains (meaning "bare") are quite photogenic. The name was chosen by navigator Flinders, who wasn't really impressed by the place.
