At the bottom of Faaroa Bay, just before the Hotu Vanilla vanilla plantation on the mountain side, the road goes down to the heights of the island and goes as far south as Fa'atemu Bay. Halfway through the tour, you can park, pass under the wooden fence and barbed wire, and enjoy the superb view of the volcano crater. You are in a wilderness territorial area, but a number of agricultural plantations are cultivated there. A setting of large cliffs and beautiful waterfalls (when it rains): there are up to 17 in the rainy season!
