KURMI MARKET
A historic market in the commercial capital of Kano since the Middle Ages, the Kurmi market, like the Emir's Palace, dates back to the 15th century. As you stroll through its crowded and overflowing alleys of calabashes and jute bags of various commodities, along the wooden and sheet metal stalls, you will be able to see all the vitality of a traditional African market. Its very dense structure, made up of a swarm of small, hardened alleys, is however more similar to Arab architecture, and strongly reminiscent of the heart of a medina in the Maghreb. It is an opportunity to test your negotiating skills, and to taste the culture of the North, with many leather articles (bags, wallets, shoes, poufs...), but also traditional clothes and fabrics very different from those of the South, or why not jewellery, basketry or slippers?
