A few banana-boats, these aging but sturdy composite sheet-metal boats, make the crossing to Tarkwa Bay. Their sometimes noisy and bumpy engines are nothing to worry about: these boats hold their own and are the most common means of transport. They can also be chartered, subject to negotiation, to reach other beaches or points in the lagoon. The journey usually takes just a few minutes, but it's best to remember to get the captain's number before departure, to make sure you return on time.
