Fort located nearly 60 km from Hampi, perched on the tip of the Ballari Gudda mountain, also known as Fort Hill
Bellary Fort is about 60 km from Hampi. Perched atop the Ballari Gudda mountain, it is also known as Fort Hill. The date of its construction is not yet known, but in 1769, it was wrested from the Nayaka by Hyder Ali and modified with the help of a French engineer, who failed to meet the requirements and was hanged. His grave can be seen at the entrance to the fort.
