HISTORY MUSEUM OF AKŌ
The ground floor of the museum traces the history of salt production at Akō and the development of carpet weaving techniques. The first floor evokes the history of the castle and in particular the affair of the samurai of Akō and their revenge, after the death of their master, Naganori Asano, founder of the castle in 1661. The lineage of the Asano family died out at his death. There is an exhibition of ukiyo-e presenting kabuki actors during the performances of this case. The museum has a collection of 1,500 of these works.
