This majestic conical volcano, 2,652 metres high and between 250 and 300 metres in diameter, was formed over the last 200,000 years
The silhouette of the Osorno volcano is true to the image we have of a volcano: conical and majestic. Standing 2,652 metres high, this stratovolcano between Lake Todos los Santos to the east and Lake Llanquihue to the west, was formed over the last 200,000 years. Its summit features a glacier and a crater with a diameter of between 250 and 300 metres. Dormant since 1869 - Charles Darwin was even able to observe its last eruption - it now attracts tourists for skiing and hiking.
