This wood sculpture at the north entrance of the city is engraved with the following sentence: Tengo las manos ásperas pero hay pan in mid mesa, which can translate into "I have rough hands but at least I have bread on my table". This well-known slogan of the inhabitants describes in some way the hard work of the miners of Curanilahue.
