The Roman ruins of Portus Magnus, an ancient Roman city built between the iie and third centuries, are rather well preserved, but the site is unfortunately not well maintained. However, these ruins still deserve a visit and offer beautiful views of the sea. To understand the history of Portus Magnus, you are advised to visit the small museum just next door, a guide will eventually tell you more and make you visit the ruins (welcome tip).

Contrairement à ce qu'il est dit dans le Petit Futé, il n'y a pas de petit musée… avec un guide qui parait-il nous en dira un peu plus que ce qu'il est écrit dans le guide !!! Avec mon chauffeur, j'ai discuté avec des personnes qui habitent à côté depuis très longtemps… et nous ont dit que c'était une plaisanterie !!! Quand on voit l'état du site, je les crois volontiers ! J'y ai même croisé un troupeau de moutons et son berger… Tout est à l'abandon… Et ça fait mal au cœur ! Portus Magnus et les Romains sont très loin...
