BOARDWALK

The famous Asbury Park Parkway, which appears on Bruce Springsteen's album, is the city's raison d 'être. In recent years, it has been revitalized and there is no longer the number of shops and restaurants, rather tourist and unpretentious, that have been held there. It's also along the promenade that you will see the most interesting buildings in Asbury Park: his deserted Beaux-Arts casino, designed by the famous New York architect Whitney Warren, one of the façades today with a colorful art art street; next to the steam plant with its large steam fireplace, built in 1930 to generate the heating of the walking establishments; the mythical concert hall Stone Pony; north of the boardwalk, the Hall Hall transformed into a market. Some of the most emblematic buildings in the walk are no longer, like his beautiful carousel that was moved in 1990 to Myrtle Beach, North Carolina, when the city was falling apart. And, above all, its Palace of Amusements, historic amusement park built in 1888 that attracted crowds in the 1920 s and did not survive the difficult years that hit Asbury Park after World War II. He closed in November 1988 and was destroyed in 2004, despite numerous attempts to save him. The graffiti of Tillie, emblem of the city with a smile all in the teeth that was painted on its exterior façade in 1955, was spared and is now preserved in an unknown place in Asbury Park.
