SPEAN PRAPTOS
Angkorian laterite harbour featuring 21 arches, each 5 m high, with 2 polycephalic naga heads at the entrance
Cambodia's most remarkable Angkorian bridge. Built of laterite, the Spean Praptos is 64.60 m long and 16 m wide. Its deck was reinforced with a reinforced cement slab covered with laterite macadam embedded in two kerbs forming a sidewalk. It comprises 21 arches, each with a 5 m spire. At the entrance to the bridge, two polycephalic naga heads fan out to form 84 m-long parapets. This construction probably dates from the 10th century, as does a neighbouring temple, Prasat Praptos.
