Named after the famous Lewes brewery just a few steps away, the John Harvey Tavern is a good city-center pub, located in a small alley just off the main Cliffe High Street. The food is classic British pub fare at reasonable prices, and the beers are logically mostly local. A few black-and-white photos bear witness to the pub's past, and there's usually live music on Saturdays, a burger night on Thursdays, and even stand-up comedy and quiz nights.
