Solikamsk, 93,118 inhabitants, is an industrial town founded in the 15th century around a huge salt deposit. It quickly became the salt capital of the Russian Empire; 70% of the national salt reserves are produced here (as well as rare deposits of bromine, magnesium, etc.). A flourishing city means splendour. You will fall under the spell of this rich architectural heritage, manor houses and religious buildings from the 18th century where you can admire icons that are just as old. A visit to the Salt Museum and you will master the history of its exploitation. Finally, the Lyudmilinskaya well is one of the must-see of Solikamsk. It is 220 km north of Perm (4 hours drive).
