Law Laguna is a miskito village composed of a few streets following a rigorous grid. Some mestizos (Métis) also live on the lagoon. During colonial times, as the Miskito people were allied with the English, the canons were drawn on the islets of Cayos Cañones, hence their names; we can see their remains today. Law Laguna is surrounded by savanes in the south and wetlands (wetland type) in the north. Many activities can be carried out by moving on small motor boats. For example, you can visit Tucta Tiwan, Canales de Amantigni, Raguna de Rapa, Rio Sicre, Tilasunta and La Lagoon. All watercourses from the savanna are crystalline transparency. It is the ideal place for ornithologists and nature lovers. You can enter the tropical forest by the Rio Sicre or take a trip from 8 h to Las Marias. Law Laguna is known for its abundance of shrimp (gambas) at the beginning of the rainy season, which are less expensive than beef and pork (during the shrimp fishing season).
