Monument and important artistic testimony of the fourteenth century, located at the foot of Mount Pisano
Monument and important artistic testimony of the 14th century, located at the foot of Mount Pisano. The Carthusian monastery of Pisa consists of a large internal courtyard, once dedicated to community life. In the back, there were the cells and the vegetable garden: a quiet place adapted to monastic life. The baroque façade is majestic. Today, the Certosa di Pisa houses the Natural History Museum of the University of Pisa, and holds the largest collection of cetaceans in Europe (see in particular the entire skeletons of whales).
