Howler monkey sanctuary, a conservation, education and sustainable tourism project
The conservation project for howler monkeys, then threatened with extinction by deforestation, began in 1985 under the impetus of an American researcher and seven small landowners. Today, some 200 landowning families are involved in this conservation project. Today, no fewer than 2,000 howler monkeys inhabit this sanctuary. they are accompanied by 200 species of birds. Crocodiles, iguanas, ocelots, pumas and jaguars await you.
