CHAMPAGNE REEF
Dive site home to a large colony of bright yellow tubular sponges and a multitude of small multicolored fish.
If you only need access to one beach in Dominica, choose this one, as Champagne Reef is ideal for diving and snorkeling, although its pebble beach is not among the most attractive. This beach and its bay owe their name to its water; as you dive, you'll be surrounded by bubbles resulting from volcanic activity that escape from thermal springs located at the bottom of the ocean. You'll feel as if you're swimming in the precious nectar, in the company of a multitude of colourful fish! You can discover the seabed by snorkeling or scuba diving. You don't need a boat to take you out to sea to admire the underwater flora and fauna. Simply head down to the beach and swim a few meters to enjoy the magnificent spectacle. Champagne Reef is home to a large colony of bright yellow tubular sponges that cohabit with a multitude of small multicolored fish (parrotfish, surgeonfish, sergeant major...). Gas escapes from the reef through small openings. Millions of tiny bubbles rise up, just a few meters from the surface, giving you the real impression of swimming in a glass of Champagne and finding yourself immersed in a life-size aquarium! The ballet of fish between bubbles and sponges is unusual and unforgettable.
